🎸🎹 Pre-requisites? If you can already play songs on the guitar / keyboard - you have everything it takes to start.

However - remember that it's a journey, and while it takes around 1-3 weeks to go through the course, songwriting is a skill honed over a lifetime.

Two of my favorite benefits of writing your own original music:

Turn your life journey into "listenable art pieces" - songs.

Writing songs gets you deep into the art & craft of music

Songs that you can also share with others, and listen to years from now. You'll develop a collection of creations that would become better and better over time, as you improve.

Lyrics, melodies, hooks, rhythms, etc... And when you experience these things from the perspective of the creator - your music-listening experience also becomes profoundly richer.

Don't rely on luck, rely on a workflow.

For most people who aren't professional songwriters - writing a song is a matter of "getting lucky" with inspiration every once in a long while.

It might be familiar to you - where sometimes many months go by, and this side of yours, perhaps the most exciting side of your music life, is left untapped.

This course will help you eliminate the "luck factor", give you a reliable writing workflow, and allow you to regularly write songs by enjoying the inspiration that is around you all the time.

A workflow I developed, that helped me go from being a frustrated guitarist who really wants to write songs - to a prolific artist who releases a new song to Spotify every month.

Yoo, my name is Alon Cooper and I'll be your friend on this ride.

- I'm an artist living between Austin, Amsterdam, and Tel Aviv. Since 2015 I've had 100K students learn on my Udemy courses for guitar, piano and harmonica.

- I'd love to share with you more about me and my own music below, since I assume that's something you'd be happy to "see some credentials" about. Of course! 🙂

Koen L. - The Netherlands 🇳🇱

"Hi Alon,

Thanks for the Word file! And for your quick response.

I started to write a new song along the lines of your process, and that teaches me something about the importance of having such a process (or rather: more than one).

I've been writing songs as a hobby for a little under 2 years now and have close to 100 more or less finished songs (lyrics, melody and chords) in Dutch and about 40 in English.

(It's funny how most of my Dutch songs are comedy and most of the English ones are more serious / emotional)

I like your course because it gives me alternative processes for starting a new song (lyrics / melody / chords / rhythm first) and because of the structured ways you explain the different processes after that initial step.

I've found that my trouble with recording, mixing etc. is partly caused by the one process I've used so far (lyrics - melody - chords - recording (or not)). I need to think of aspects for the finished arrangement while I am writing the lyrics or the difference between the A, B and C-parts tends to be too small (in the sense of rhyme schemes, short/long sentences and notes etc.).

The bits of music theory are nice too: very practical, not too theoretical.

Thanks again,

Koen"

Giving constructive feedback to others and building a supportive group of writing friends

I'm Cooper, your friend on this ride. A bit about me:

😍 I am (perhaps a bit too much) obsessed with songs, the feelings behind them, and the mysterious magic of how they come into our world.

🔥 Nothing gets me going more than a conversation about these things / making music with others who share this passion.

😔 I have been writing songs for the last 11 years, since I had the dream of becoming a "real musician" and having my own collection of songs that would touch and groove people. However, songs didn't really come out of me at most times, especially not ones I considered good.

🍉 Later, 3 years ago, after a lot of work, I've slowly reached a series of breakthroughs that allowed me to write much better songs and finish songs consistently. I can’t wait to share it all with you too.

🎸 My "folk-pop-jazz" music: I have released 9 singles so far (Spotify). Here's a YT link to my favorite - "The Springtime of Your Life".

⭐ My "northern star" as a musician is being "the next Jack Johnson", in my own way.

🌏 Over the last 9 years I've spent many months traveling and living in five different continents, trying to learn with the most inspiring musicians wherever I went, and playing solo/with the band in 100's of venues.

Is this the right course for you?

🔴 The course is NOT for you, if:

You think that you can get good at writing songs just by watching videos.

In order to make true progress, take into account that you would want to put in the time, enjoy the process, and write songs yourself.

And yes, some of your songs along the way might not be great, but this is where everybody starts, and this is how you learn and get better.

Probably none of the greatest songs that you love are someone's first songs, right?

🟢 The Songwriting Inspirations course IS for you, and will help you make massive progress, if:

- You have little to no experience, but the subject of writing songs is fascinating to you and you are excited to learn how to do it yourself.

- You have been writing songs in the past but you were never able to do it consistently / lacked the ability to spark up your inspiration / lacked the technical know-how.

- And yes, even if you are an experienced singer-songwriter with many songs already out (such as many of my peers who took the course) - you would still learn a lot of succinct information about crafting exceptional melodies, lyrics, hooks, sparking up your inspiration, etc.

🎸🎹 You can play songs on the guitar or the keyboard. (Beginner level is sufficient)

⌛ You are excited to put in the necessary time and to see your songs get better and better.
